After a year and a half of working as an accountant, they attended the J. Reuben Clark Brigham Young University Law School, where they focused on all forms of law that did not involve the courtroom. They spent time taking classes to improve their legal drafting skills. While in law school they worked at eight distinct jobs to broaden their exposure to various practice areas, including positions at the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center and BYU’s Community Legal Clinic.
While in law school they served on the mentoring task force for the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion (“UCLI”) alongside illustrious members of the legal community, including members of the Utah Supreme Court and professors from BYU and University of Utah Law Schools. While serving on this task force, William advised on the development and implementations of UCLI’s mentoring programs.
After law school, William worked as Chief General Counsel for Encircle, a multimillion-dollar nonprofit. While there, William provided expert and strategic legal advice to management on various topics such as employment law, business law, diversity and inclusion, and internal policies and governance.
